I have a radio shack PRO2052 scanner and noticed a piece of plastic foam on
the lower left hand corner of the display window is intruding a bit. I'd
like to open the case to gently poke it back down out of the way. BEFORE I
open the case, is there anything I'd need to be aware of so I don't foul the
thing up - wires, connections ??? THANKS.

I'm not familiar with the PRO2052, but I would think this is how to do it:

Unplug it, then wait a half hour before opening it.

Slowly and gently remove the case, be careful not to strongly tug, bend, or
pinch wires.

If possible, try not to touch any circuit boards (avoid discharging any static
built up on your body into the radio). If you can't avoid touching or removing
circuit boards, try not to bend them.

Use a non-conductive tool to push the foam down.

Be careful not to pinch or smash wires when replacing the case.
