And if they think I'm the only one making that promise, they're in for a rude awakening. |

Lots of people complain about jobs going overseas, but look how many people in this thread are still using AOL even though they know AOL has moved customer service to India. You can get dial up from a variety of ISP's with call centers in the USA, for under $10. My dad pays under $7 a month for unlimited access. If you want the US economy to improve, you can help by adjusting your purchases to favor goods and services from the USA. How many of us can say most of our radios were made in the USA? |

Who makes radios in the USA? Don't think anyone has in years.. As for ISP's, no matter which one you use, you're still likely paying (indirectly) a backbone provider that uses mostly outsourced workers (if not wholly owned outside the US). If you want to support US workers anymore, you have to buy a Japanese or Korean car because the ones sold in the states are mostly made there.. |

From: (LW) Date: 2/12/2004 1:57 PM Central Standard Time Message-id: Speaking of John Kerry the war hero .. http://www.washtimes.com/national/20...3002-8027r.htm Bill Clinton was criticized in 1992, when it was reported that he used political pressure to avoid the Vietnam-era draft after he ignored a written agreement to accept a slot in the ROTC at the University of Arkansas. He was further cited for his involvement in the antiwar movement as a student at Oxford University in England, including his work in coordinating the largest antiwar, anti-U.S. demonstration on foreign soil. Kinda like Duhbya did in getting an air guard assignment because his father wrote a letter? Politics as usual..................... My reaction is that the American people have had it with the big lie," she told CNN Wednesday. "Any attempts to link Kerry to me and make him look bad with that connection is completely false. We were at a rally for veterans at the same time. I spoke, Donald Sutherland spoke, John Kerry spoke at the end. I don't even think we shook hands. "I'm tired of the government lying. I'm tired of people desperately pulling out anything that they can do to hurt another candidate, and I think that the American people feel that way, too," she said. "It's a bunch of hogwash." She also said that she does not recall meeting Kerry during the antiwar movement, although she said she did meet him years later after he became a senator and she was married to Ted Turner, who founded CNN but no longer has any management role with the network. Kerry aides said he did not support Fonda's trip to Vietnam, an action for which many veterans still refuse to forgive her more than 30 years later. On the campaign trail, Kerry frequently talks about both his war record and his antiwar activities after coming home, and he has said he is proud of both. But his so-called association with Fonda has begun to draw fire from conservatives and veterans. "It bothered us, anyone who associated themselves with Jane Fonda, with (her husband)Tom Hayden, with the antiwar movement," said Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-California, a former Navy pilot shot down in 1972. "We just wanted to do our job, complete our mission for our country that sent us and come back alive. And having people like Sen. Kerry protest that was kind of a slap in the face to us." But the president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, Bobby Muller, said Kerry has strong support among Vietnam vets. "We have been contacted by veterans across the country [asking], 'How do I connect to the Kerry campaign?'" he said. "I have not seen in the 26 years that I've been in Washington, ever, the kind of dynamic and energizing of a Vietnam veteran community in this country as I am right now." It seems as though we have a mexican standoff on who did what............... Les |

Has nothing to do with sitting behind a desk. The manufacturing industry is
going away fast. Manufacturing has been the economic backbone of this country for fifty years. There is nothing to replace it with. The only ting that really can't be outsourced are jobs were somebody has to be right there. That leaves burger flippers and construction workers but the government has an answer to that too. The alien import plan is meant to replace what's left. "Chandler7600" wrote in message ... ext. If you sit at a desk, your job can be offshored.. - Creepy..! |

Nobody that has used it likes it, either.
My son, a college student specializing in computer networking, makes some pretty good extra money by troubleshooting and repairing computers. A retired couple bought their first Dell the other day, and asked my son to help them with their ADSL installation. They got the computer out of the box, and it wouldn't power on. So, not wanting to violate their warranty, he called "tech support" to tell them what was up. After a 35-minute wait, he got a tech-support guy in India with an accent so heavy that he had serious trouble understanding him. Then, the guy was insisting on going through his "trouble-tree," even though he was talking to someone with multiple certifications (including A+ and MCSE). Finally, the Indian tech support guy realized he was in over his head, and let a supervisor (who was actually in the states) take over. With his permission, my son opened the case, pulled off the CPU cowling, and found what he had suspected all along -- the P4 processor had been jammed in -- bending several pins that didn't go into the processor mount on the motherboard. No problem, Dell shipped another new unit (but you'd think they'd check these things before they leave the factory, wouldn't you?). Too many short-cuts, both in support and manufacturing! -- Stinger "CW" wrote in message ... Nobody in their right mind buys it. "Rick KB1KIL" wrote in message ... Oh bull****. Your son didn't suspect that. Look at this a guy who claims his son can tell the symptoms of bent pins without opening the case. No problem, Dell shipped another new unit (but you'd think they'd check these things before they leave the factory, wouldn't you?). Why didn't your wiz of a son just straighten the pins? Sounds to me like he bent them while taking the CPU out of the socket. |
