Hi folks,
'Accidentaly' I got an icom r71a receiver. I never thought about getting into amateur radio 'hobby', but after little searching on Internet I believe it's a great chance to at least learn something new and good way of communication while I'm here in states doing the internship. I beleive it is 30MHz receiver, therefore I need the general class license. Is that correct? Can I get one as foreigner? Also I don't have any anthena yet. What is the easiest way to at least test the receiver. Thank you, Martin |
Hi Martin. The R71 is only a receiver and no lic. is required to listen. But of course if you want to transmit then yes a lic is required -- 73 and good DXing RX: R-5000, SP-600 JX-6, SX-28 Ant: 100' longwire, Evesdropper Dipole Brian's Radio Universe http://webpages.charter.net/brianehill/ |
