Code practice on W1AW. You'll need SSB to hear it, and to hear most
other amateur transmissions. Listen. Copy. Pass the test.

Thanks for this! I'll check it out tonight while my wife escapes me and the
kiddo for a while.

Are you Gay?

Sorry, man. I'm not. I mean, I'm sure you're a nice guy and all, and I
know you'll make someone very happy someday, but I'm just here to talk about
shortwave, okay?

Chin up!

ain't.

Hey, all...

I'm a moderate shortwave enthusiast (in that my time and budget don't allow
me to go hogwild and buy/build all the cool toys I want), and I'm curious
about amateur/ham radio. Where's the best place to maybe listen in and hear
what's up? I've got a YB 400 PE with a randomwire antenna, and I'm in the
Northeast.

Apologies if this question is remarkably noobish.

You can try monitoring some of the ham nets on the air. A list can be found at

For the best enterainment, listen to the frequencies around 3950 USB or LSB.
It's kinda like listening to a bunch of old WWII veterans sitting around the
back porch bitching about what is wrong with the country.
