Hammerlund SP-600 Dual Diversity receiver.

Oh that ought to be fun to use, especially with your antenna farm.

I still listen to it all the time.I really like the warmth it generates in
the shack on a cold winters night. The audio quality is superb for
listening to AM broadcasts as well.
The radio is still stock and I just had it re-alinged and a couple of
tubes replaced. The person I originally purchased it from in 1981 did the
job,.and what a fine job he did.

What's that old saying about real radios glow in the dark? G

My experience with military and marine gear, from WWII to date, has been that a
properly working tube type miltary radio had always performed better than any
solid state radio.

I even had great success with the receiver in a Heath HW-101 transceiver, after
I put in a carbon deposit resistor upgrade and a feedback tickler to make the
RF gain-controlled stage become narrower in band width as the gain was turned
up for weak ssb signals.

I was listening to Alan Weiner World Wide earlier and his topic was the WBCQ
listener demographic. As I listened to those calling in, it was apparent
that everyone was, for the most part, forty and over. I am twenty five and I
wonder what the average is here on this group.

I'm 48, live in Maine and have been listening to SW on and off since 1967.

Where in Maine are you? When I was KA1UL I was in Rockland and
had enough space for a 160 meter dipole.

My main radios I use are, Drake R8 and R8B, Icom IC-R75, Unmodified, Yaesu
FRG-7700 and my Hammerlund SP-600 Dual Diversity receiver. I have several
others but I don't use them anymore.
Antennas:120ft longwire @ 40ft N/S, McKay Dymek DA100E Active Antenna @
45ft, and almost finished 160ft longwire E/W@ 45ft.
