Grundig Satellit 800 owners...

I have a Satellit 800 on its way from Universal Radio and curious about
anything I should look for or check to make certain the unit works properly
with none of the quality control problems I've heard about...Thanks for any
suggestions...I'll be comparing it to my beloved Sony 2010 so that will be
interesting...Long live shortwave! Also, how do I read the serial number to
determine date of manufacture.
Best Regards...

I have owned a Satellit 800 for over a year now, I haven't experienced an
QC problems at all. It is a pretty decent receiver.....There were problems
with some of the earlier production runs. They seem to have resolved those
problems.

In case anyone is interested, I also have a Radio Shack DX-440
(Sangean 803?), an original Drake R8, a Hallicrafters S-120, one of
those big old Grundig 50's style radios (big wood table top case, 8
tubes, 3 speakers, piano key controls, you know the type), a 1936
Zenith 5 tube tombstone, and a 1936 E. H. Scott 23 tube Allwave in a
floor-standing Tasman cabinet!

Interesting mix Jim, do you actually use all of them?
