Kenwood R-5000

Bought one at a junk store for $10 but all that's on the screen is
0000.000.00 's and it hums a bit.
Worth fixin'? My TV guy said he couldn't fix it, but I should send it to
it's maker.

One thing that maybe the trouble is the battery for the memory could be
gone. Just replace the battery and try resetting the memory. It should only
cost you about $10.00 for the battery or less and some elbow grease. You can
get the manuals at http://www.mods.dk/view.php?ListManuals=kenwood . I do
know other people who have had the radio and in working order it is a damn
good radio. New it sold for between $500.00 and $1000.00 depending on
country. Find a local Ham and see if they want to try to get it working for
the price of parts.

I'L GIVE YOU 150 BUCKS FOR IT

fartin freddy March 10th 04 06:41 PM

An old torn book came with it with all kinds of wiring pictures. There were
a 110 pages in the book on how to fix it but somebody torn some of them out.
One guy I asked with wires hanging all over his yard said he was a ham but
told me he just put them there to impress people. I told him I got the book
on how to fix it. He told me to maybe get one of the local cb radio guys
to have a look at it. He said that they have tinkerd with more radios than
he did. He told me some of them help keep the companys in business
becauase of thier work on radios.
I think I'll try and find one of these guys to have a look at it. Better to
have someone used to fixing radios look at it. Hope it gets fixed soon so
that I can listen to all those other countrys. I t has fm on it too.

It's the PLL. Cost of about $100 to repair. Well worth it. If you can do it
yourself, email me and I'll tell you how.

Geoff.

I've watched "The Passion". It's the worst version of MacBeth I've ever seen.
