FA: Optoelectronics Optolinx

This Optoelectronics Optolinx is a universal interface that adapts for use
with a wide variety of scanners, decoders, frequency counters, and frequency
recorders. One of the common uses for it is to allow computer control of the
AR8000, Icom IC-R10, Icom R7000, R7100, R8500, and R9000. Another common use
is to connect an Opto Scout to a PC, to download the Scouts memory to your
hard drive, and even match up those frequencies it found with a Spectrum FCC
database. It is also unique in its ability to connect both full and half
duplex devices and alternate them under computer control, allowing for
multiple radio computer controlled operation. For example, is is possible
for the AOR AR8000 (full duplex receiver) to simultaneously operate with any
one of 6 Icom scanners (half duplex receivers), and is the only device made
that has that capability. The most unique feature is the incorporation of a
DATA SLICER circuit, which when used with the discrimnator audio from most
scanners can decode AFSK data, and convert it to RS232, using a variety of
programs such as ACARS and many others. The Optolinx is equipped with a CI-5
interface, allowing complete computer control of most Icom receivers, and
has all the functions of Icom's CT-17 interface. It even allows the Icom
R7000 to operate at a higher speed under computer control. This unit comes
with all of its original accessories, including original box, original
owner's manual, AC adaptor, and two interface ribbon cables for the AR8000.
It sold for $199.95 when new. This unit is in mint condition and comes with
box, manual, power supply, software, serial cable, flat flexible cable,
3.5mm mono cable, and 2.5mm sub mini jack.
