...and here in the Bay State, we also got to enjoy "Don't blame me, I'm from
Massachusetts" after we were the only state in the country not to vote for
Tricky Dick in the national election.

Dangit Steve!

Realizing what the video at that link probably contains, it has truly
harshed my mellow. Now I must "get my rant on!"

Earth-Muffins would admonish you to be more tolerant and to refrain from
painting the entire culture of Islam with such a broad brush.

But, since you brought it up, (awkward segue, but I had to get from there
to here) can anyone recall any Islamics continuously and *vigorously*
condemning the barbaric practices of their "less sophisticated" brethren?

One would think that if the Islamic extremists are (purportedly) giving
the religion such a black-eye, there would be gales of derisive
condemnation being heaped upon them (vigorously and often) by the (peace
loving) rest of Islamic society, even if they had to buy time on
[CNN/FOX/NBC/CBS/ABC/etc.] to make themselves heard. One would think that
the (peace loving) rest of Islamic society would take offense at the
barbaric few who were tarnishing their entire (peace loving) religion.

One wouldn't expect them to be so... quiescent.

Other than the (scant) one-line blurbs you hear (rarely) third-hand from a
news outlet, am I to presume mainstream Islam is so peace-loving that they
can't even bear to speak harshly about the miscreants in their midst? Or
perhaps the religion is sooooo peace-loving that they can't bear to speak
harshly about anything and view the miscreants as wayward lambs who
simply need to be gently returned to the fold...

Maybe it's all a vast major-media conspiracy to withhold/refuse to allow
the (peace loving) Islamics to be heard in order to...umm... I don't know.
I was going somewhere with that and my train of thought just fizzled...
Apologies.

If M.Creep's anti-terrorism policy recognizes that arresting terrorists
only serves to prompt additional acts of terrorism to free them and that
all terrorist should be afforded every opportunity for martyrdom (even if
they may not wish to become a martyr at the time) before an arrest is
considered, then he just might have my vote too.

Disclaimer for the nit-pickers (not necessarily just MWB): The above is
simply my opinion and nothing contained therein should be taken as fact...
or even seriously.

Nah... Religious tomes tend to put me to sleep.

If there's a contemporary version available -AND- if (let's say) I
temporarily lose situational awareness in an airport and someone slips a copy
into my laptop bag for me to discover later, *Then* I might just flip through
it some evening. But only if I get to wear my "EAT PORK OR DIE, DAMN YOU!" T-
Shirt while I'm (somewhat) attempting to read it out of sheer boredom.

If you've read it even once, my hat's off to you.

I don't think I would EVEN have a copy of the Koran in my luggage (or carry
on) and be anywhere NEAR an airport..

Hi back,

Been busy with the house, painting, new front and back doors and some vinyl
siding. Getting it ready so I can sell it and move when I retire.

Sold the SP-600, no boatanchors left, just a wood Philco 40-155 that the wife
loves.

Not much on here about RADIOS anymore it seems.

believe you're just down to the two, the ten tec.....isn't that the computer
receiver. Fake shortwave now? :-D

No, you are thinking of the RX-320. The RX-350 is a dsp tabletop receiver.

We'll move into a smaller place, so no need for the big tube stuff. I had my
fun with all of it, time to move on.
