Non Sponger Plea For Support/Amos&Andy
 

Hopefully, the full subject title came across your newsreader. EVERY night at
midnight (0400UCT here in Cincy) on 7.415MHz Ed Bolton, out of the kindness of
his heart and to preserve a *Radio Treasure* does a show from the archives of
'Amos & Andy.'

He doesn't do this to get rich, but to preserve a piece of our 'radio culture'
that dates back to 1933. Tonights show was 'exactly' as it was when the whole
country was tuned and sitting in front of their radio to hear what was going to
happen next, April,11th 1933.

It is a labor of love that this gentleman has taken on this project, and as he
says and you hear it on thes how, back then *Pepsodent* was the major sponsor
and he has no sponsors to do what he has taken on himself.

He asks nicely and with humbleness when he asks the listeners if they can
afford to send in 'ANYTHING' to help offset the costs or the history and joy
that 'Amos & Andy' brought to our country will be lost to this
generation.....and that'd be terrible IMO. Do we want that? Well, I'm sure
many of you don't care, but the day my Dad said something or a phrase and I
said "what does that mean"......and he said it was from 'Amos & Andy'.....I
made a mental and written note of it and one nite while tuning the dial I ran
plum onto it right literally at the beginnig of the show.

From that time I listen eagerly just about every night or I'll tape it if I
know I'm hitting the hay early or will be gone. I've posted on this subject
once before, but I just wrote ED and promised him that I'd request from the
readers of the shortwave group on usenet (I'm not even sure he'll know what I
mean, but that's OK.)

In no way am I affiliated with this guy or know him or ever spoken to him,
even the I wouldn't mind speaking to him......heck- might look him up. But if
you have an extra couple dollars or a five or maybe more, please send it to
this gentleman. What he's doing is a nice thing and there aren't many out
there nowadays doing nice thngs, you know what I mean. His address is
