Sony 2010 "Error.3" message

I get this error message everytime I change the 3 D cells. I then have to
take out the 2 AA's for the computer backup, wait a few minutes, then
re-install new D cells. Then I have lost all my memories and have to
re-program them. It's getting to be a pain! I turn the radio off and on
using the sleep function

I remember there being a mod for the battery tray to correct this but can't
remember? Any help would be appreciated.

I've you tried turning off the master power switch on the side before
you remove the D-cells?

I tried it and it worked the first time, then as I tried several other times
I'm still getting the "error.3". Any other suggestions?
