R8B FM

I have a Drake R8B. Great radio but I can't figure out what the FM mode is
for. I've never heard any signal that requires it. Have you?

on hf the only thing you will here is 10 meter fm
mostly repeater action
try tuning in 29.620, 29.640, 29.660, 29.680.
29.600 is simplex. the solar cycle is approaching its minimum right now so
the bands are almost always dead. if you have the vhf/uhf convertor
installed most scanner type freqs are fm.

Yes, some amateur activity takes place on FM up on 10 meters. Also some
pirates have run FM on 6925, 6950 etc.

The FM mode is also incorporated in the set for use with the optional VHF
convertor.

There's some studio link transmitters around 25 - 26 Mc, and mo

http://www.wunclub.com/wunstr/wunstr0309.html

At the solar max, these stations propagate very well. I could count on
hearing WFLA, the sport talker in Portland and the gospel station in St.
Louis on a regular basis.
