Default Auto Radio with SW

Go to http://69.0.240.84/ "Jacky's Online" and do a search for "Car
Stereo" -- without the quotes -- and you should come up with a
satisfactory radio.

Someone was asking about this a while back and I couldn't think of
Jacky's Online. The prices will appear low. Remember, they are out of
the country, I think, and it will cost a bit to get it here, but not too
much.

I checked it today and the description was very poor. Don't know if
they're upgrading the system or what. Contact info is there. Tell them
to email you some literature on whatever you are interested in if, like
me, you get "N/A" beside all the features of the unit.

I've heard some good things about their products and some have been sold
on Ebay. This way you buy direct and don't have to bid.

Sony does not, or did not, sell an automobile radio with SW in the U.S.
This was the reason one had to go online and get the European version.
There is, in the unit I have, a switch to flip from 9 to 10 KHz for the
AM tuning. Don't recall which way it was set to start with. It's been
years since mine was installed. About the only thing I don't like about
it is a gap from about 9 to 9.5 Mhz. I can still tune LOTS of other
stuff, however. ;-)

I sent an e mail to jackys to order a sony xr ca640. But, they asked
me to send them my driving license's and credit card's photocopy with
a paper drawn a signature of mine on it. This is bull****. I refused
to send all these things, adviced them to read a book or have a course
teaching e business staff. I asked a friend of mine who was on his
wawy to singapore, he brought me a xr620 instead of 640. I am very
happy with it although my car have problems with noise.
Below is a letter I wrote when I first made it installed to my car 2
days ago:
"I have just made a sony xr ca620x installed to my car which is a
volkswagen polo automatic . I had a blaupunkt before that and it had a
strong noice coming from the ignition and pumps(?). I had tried to
solve this problem for a very long time. Visited, called and e-mailed
vw and blaupunkt in vain. I could not solve this noise problem. I use
MW for BBC world service in 1323 and VOA in 1260 and 792 kHz in
Istanbul. My new sony has the same problem in MW but, suprisingly I
have much less noise on shortwaves which does not bother me at all. I
haven't had much time yet to estimate my car radios sensitivity - I
listened to some weak stations from almost every band from 60 m to 16
m tonight-. It seems as sensitive as my Sony icf 7600D (no external
but whip antenna), a little lessselective then 7600D. I am very happy
with my new car radio so far.Voice of Russia's jazz hour was
marvellous at 22:00 in 31 m band. I
strongly suggest this 620x to anyone who likes to listen to sw
broadcasts while driving."
Now it's been about 2 days since the day i have installed my radio. I
still have noise problem coming from ignition and a continious less
noisy one from alternator or pumps or the thing which mecanists call
"brain" here in turkey. I don't know what is it called in English. I
compered my xr 620 with my icf7600D. I use my radio's original active
antenna with 620x and use my portable's own whip with 7600. 620 is
really as sensitive as 7600D. search option works much better than the
7600, it catches almost all broadcasts which can be heard. xr 620 has
images in 5,6 and 7 MHz in day time. 7600 has a better selectivity but
there is not a big difference between the two. And it is definetely
impossible to compere the lousy tinny audio of 7600 D with my car's
stereo.
It's become great fun driving again.
regards, oan.

Oan,

They may have had some problems with folks using other people's credit
cards from your area. They'd probably have required none of that if you
told them you were sending a money order. All they'd need would be the
money order and where to send it to.

I don't recall ever hearing any other problems with Jackys.
