Aircraft to combat Cuban jamming
Bush to formally announce plan to combat Cuban jamming
President Bush is expected later today to formally announce his measures to promote democracy in Cuba. One is the use of C-130 Commando Solo aircraft flying over international waters close to the island in an effort to overcome Cuban attempts to jam Radio and TV Marti. An experimental broadcast was made last year, but nothing has happened since. This is reported to have angered the White House, and a spokesperson for the administration is quoted as saying "If they don't get the job done this time, heads will roll.'' The Commando Solo broadcasts are expected to begin in a few months' time. |
