UPS Ground shipping

Question:if something was sent out from RadioLabs on the May 6th and it's
already in the UPS tracking as to be here on May13th (Thurs.)......is there a
chance it could be here by the 11th? The way it states now it would be seven
days.

Just curious as to others experiences from UPS ground coming from RadioLabs
with others in here.
*Also, has anyone ever have a DX394 modded by Lowbander in here and own a
398/909 and tell me how they compare, or if it's just a waste.

Thanks

My experience is that UPS packages NEVER show up before the delivery
date reported by their tracking system. I've had a couple show up a day
or two after the original estimated delivery date, but never earlier.
In the last year or so their system has been extremely accurate. If it
shows the package has actually made it to a UPS facility, this time of
year I'd give it a 98% chance of showing up on the specified date.
There are usually delays around Christmas time and there is occasionally
a weather delay for ground packages during snow season, but the rest of
the year they're almost always on time.

UPS Ground from anywhere in California to the East Coast is
normally 7-10 days. UPS has zones that show delivery times.
I've been considering the Radiolabs mods and inquired by
email of the possibility of UPS 3rd day shipping but have
not yet received a reply since April 30th. UPS charges an
additional $5.00 for 3rd day shipments. They (UPS) should
implement a Saturday delivery like FEDEX or DHL. I've spoken to a
UPS driver neighbor and he said the union and the drivers (at least
here) want no part of it unless they get double time on Saturdays;
so I guess that will never happen.
Whenever I need to ship something I use DHL, they pickup for free
and accept personal checks. If needed they can arrange for
even a Sunday delivery!!

Generally, UPS Ground takes six days from coast to coast. If they've
scheduled it for delivery on the 13th, it'll probably show up that
day. They rarely deliver early.

Several years ago, UPS had a strike - prior to that, packages would
sometimes get delivered early - now, even if it shows up at the
distribution center a couple days early, they'll sit on it because you
didn't pay extra for faster delivery.

A couple weeks ago I got a fedex package a day early.

J999w May 7th 04 09:49 PM

I used to work for UPS as a loader ... if a box arrives at the 'hub' for
delivery in two days, but you've payed for 3 ... it _WILL_ sit there until day
3.

UPS has guaranteed transit times. The only time they will beat the
guarantees is if you use something like 2nd day to a 1 day guaranteed
destination, or 3 day to a 2 day guaranteed destination. For example
if you pay for 3 day select for Los Angeles to Phoenix, you will get
it in 2 day. Phoenix to Los Angeles is a 2 day guaranteed ground
service to begin with.

If it was shipped ground, and has quoted 5 business day transit time,
you can bet you will see it on the 5th business day, and not one day
sooner.

In short, the odds on arrival by the 11th if UPS says the 13th are
nil.

Nope. They only count business days. MON-FRI, not counting holidays.
Yours is the standard 5 day ground, starting from the next day when it
was into the system. Like they said, the chances of it arriving early
are nearly nada. MK

Yeah, it's crazy, 7:23pm May5th it arrived at UPS and as of 3:07 May 7th it's
STILL in California...lol....from Eureka to Richmond.

Anyone from Cal. know how far that is between the two. I will say this, I won't
do business again with a company in Calif.

Takes to long, I sent it there 'priority' from my little local village Post
Office at 8:15am on a *Saturday* and they got it on Monday.....er Chris 'said'
Tues. "and we got it out in record time." LOL

I won't say anymore on it till it gets here, it's just with todays technology
and all , I should have read the print on their site and stopped it right
there. I hope I am satisfied but I have received emails from three different
people that were negative, maybe they expected too much {?} or maybe the
product wasn't like it was stated on the site (improvement wise.)

I will be able to tell. One day/night worth of listening, I'll know.

I've had stuff show up a day early, when it just happens to make
connections (arrival scan and departure scan within a few minutes
of each other) that they had not counted on in the schedule, in some
distant state.

Look in the tracking early on the day early and see where it is.

Thank you JW (K9RZZ) for your honesty (I hope you were being truthful when you
said that) because of that above statement of yours (as a customer, you don't
have much, but you have the one thing. Choice)

Because you said that and was/are an employee there, I will NEVER do business
with UPS again. If I buy from someone in here (say Brenda Ann or someone else)
that will be stated and if not agreed to, I won't do business.

And I have the same driver ALL THE TIME (older black fella ready to retire and
can barely walk it looks like), when he gets here, and if it is literally on
the 13th, I will ask him what you just said (I already printed it out) and if
he confirms it, that's it. Bye bye UPS, because that's ridiculous.

I've had something shipped to me from someone in her via UPS and something is
terribly wrong with the speaker (I won't say names)..... I'll NEVER be able to
use it. It looks GREAT, nice and shiny and old. But it was more than likely
drop kicked by a worker because this piece is built like I tank and I'll never
be able to use it because the speaker is shot in it, it's fine if turned up at
the 'almost' second marker. After the second marker, forget it.Sux. :-(

By the nature of the chutes and belts that are used, boxes do get beat up.
Not that there isn't the occasional worker that just got dumped by his
girlfriend ... but overall, I found my co-workers to be respectful of the
packages.

When I ship (via anybody), I pack so that I feel comfortable dropping it or
even throwing it against the wall (within reason). Then I know it will arrive
safely.

Many speakers are repairable. Sometimes speaker coils can be re-centered or
similiar repairs. There are still alot of old speaker cones around, if it
needs to be reconed. Speaker repair is oftentimes discussed on
rec.antiques.radio+phono.

I'm afraid I don't understand this logic. You pay for 3-day delivery.
You get 3-day delivery. Just because UPS won't give you service above
that for which you paid you will never do business with them again?
This is like saying you won't go back to a particular car wash because
they refuse to give you the $8 wash, wax and detail when all you paid
for was the $4 wash and dry.

Sure Frank. If you know how to do it. If it was a simple as nail polish on it,
I could do that. But I've had my left arm ribbed open from my tricep down to my
forearm and it jerks all by itself and aches like a ______----you figure out
the word.

Now they want to fix their boo-boo. And I'm left handed by the way, the one
they severed up like a pie. What originally was supposed to be a 2-3" scar..4
at the MOST tuned into a foot. Reason: Well, Mr____, when we got in there, it
was a 'little' worse than we had thought....lol.....yeah, it sure feels and
looks like it.

I could give hundreds of analogies that would make that seem silly, but it's
late and time time to get off here. I guess it's just me, IF I worked there and
I saw this package sitting there for three days and it was the last stop or
second to last, that'd make it get there a day earlier. I'd send it.

I know me, I'd send it. Because' they' paid for ground shipping (which is a
long story) and I was rushed by 'someone.' They wouldn't trust me to send the
next day the amount for priority shipping and shipped it off without getting
back with me on it.

Like I said before, as a customer you don't have rights anymore, they say you
do. You must fight tooth and nail, you HAVE TOO trust me on this, I wouldn't
make it up but I'm not going to get into things I've run into that was FLAT OUT
wrong and NOT my fault in the least. But you have a choice.

You don't like my choice? That is fine, you're not me,
so....................:-)
