At dusk and dawn I get this strange, very loud stuff coming in from 200-300khz.
This is when I connect a simple 41m dipole I have set up outside. It appears to be a hodgepodge of euro languages and occasional music. I have been trying to copy one in a lanquage I can understand but they are very jumbled and on top of one another. I am assuming becuse my antenna is too short (I dont have the real estate for a real LW antenna). I am in the Seattle area and this seems a bit of a stretch to be hearing this stuff all the way over here. These signals usually disappear after dusk and after dawn. I always thought longwaves stick to the ground. Anyone else hear this or know what causes it ? George Seattle |
