(OT) Thunder
It's really kind of interesting living here about two miles from Lake
Michigan. Some days, like this evening, I can go outside and hear the thunder from storms that are at least 35-40 miles away out on the lake, at least as indicated by the radar. Sure can hear the crashes on the radio too. Steve Holland, MI Drake R7, R8 and R8B http://www.iserv.net/~n8kdv/dxpage.htm |

It's equally wierd to be out on a Beach at night, looking up at the star filled
sky - and see distant lightning flashes reflected off the thin clouds way up in the sky... Thunder does travel Miles & Miles.. When your in the woods on a Hot Summers day & it gets cloudy & very still Then you hear the Thunder & wonder If it's gonna come your way .. A cheap SWR will almost help figgure out what direction it's coming from; - But by then it's 5 miles away & you better get your rain gear out.. - I do love summer Dan It's really kind of interesting living here about two miles from Lake Michigan. & Wasn't the original Conversation about
T H U N D E R, gentlemen?? See http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/edu/ltg/ reports of Islands 3,000 miles away from Krakatoa, hearing a Huge roar, followed by a Tidal wave, give some credence to being able to hear Thunder 40 Miles away.. & how would a Disaster of that magnitude affect Shortwave Propagation. .. DiverD,
Yes "Thunder and Lightening" but it would appear that MWB has turned it into another "Knock on Wood" experience with N8KDV. Eddie Floyd song lyrics to "Knock on Wood" http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/beverlyhills90210songsfromthepeachpit/knockonwood.htm The key song lines being: It's like Thunder (MWB) and Lightning (N8KDV), the way you love me is frightening. You better knock, knock on wood, baby. MWB - I (We) Hear You Knocking - Buy You Can't Come In :] Brian Adams song lyrics "I Hear You Knocking" http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Bri...-Knocking.html NOTE: Up in the Sierras near Village of Twain Harte. [ Up in the Hills but Down in a Valley ] Using a Low Noise Antenna during the Summer Days when the Shortwave Bands are 'quite' I can hear the Lightening Crashes up-and-down the length of Sierra Nevada Mountains: Some LOUD, some Soft and some oh so faint. {The Earth Speaks ! - Will You Listen ?} Just for the Fun of It ~ RHF .. .. = = = (Diverd4777) wrote in message = = = ... & Wasn't the original Conversation about T H U N D E R, gentlemen??
