Yes, I opened the message just so I could find out if
it was malicious. It linked to a .scr file online. I right clicked
the link in the message, chose "save target as" then
saved the offending file in a folder I keep for identifying viruses.
AVG 6 didn't detect it as anything, so I ran an online
virus scanner http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
which showed it to be the aforementioned trojan. Activescan
was unable to disinfect the file so it renamed it to a .vir extension,
making it non-executable. I then deleted the file and emptied
the recycle bin.
I highly recommend ActiveScan as a backup antivirus. It has, in
the past found and disinfected viruses that other antivirus products
have missed... including Norton and McAfee.
I believe TrendMicro has a good online scanner too, but I haven't used it.
