+Another risk to solid-state radios?

Proposal has police cars with wireless "zappers" to overload vehicle computers
in pursued cars and force them to a halt. Of course there are questions: would
police car stop too? Or how about nearby innocent vehicles, or DXers a mile
away but with a big antenna--it would pickup a big EMP pulse and destroy the
radios, no?

Could your microwave fry? Your Direct TV? Or cable-TV amplifiers mounted on
roadside poles?

Think pacemakers. Think your precious PC or Apple. The I-Pod?

Of course, I can think of a better use: zapping boom boxes; zapping annoying
hellphhone users, or similar public services
