Extreme Fringe Reception Or Tropo Or E-skip?

Last night, a few minutes past eleven PM Eastern, I heard a solid ID
on the FM band for WVOK out of Wheeling using a Kloss 88 and a plastic
dipole mounted on the wall of a first floor room. Wheeling is 160
miles from here as the crow flies. Not a listenable FM signal, but a
solid ID nonetheless. Subject line says it all. What do you think?

Regards,

Grumpus

I'd call it tropo or 'enhancement' although tropo signals can appear from much
farther distances!

Good catch.

Lots of tropo coming in here over the last two weeks in South East NY.
Coming in over the top of local FM and low band TV stations.
VHF low band scanning is picking up Tennesse on local FD freqs
