In my experience... not true. Good, interesting MW DX can occur in any month
of the year. However, it helps to make a DXpedition trek a quiet rural area
to seek out the DX with specialized antennas like Beverages. Even without an
optimal antenna and location, it just takes persistence and time at the
dials to learn the seasonal patterns.

The equinoxes in March and September are particularly good for signal paths
that follow the terminator between the north & south hemispheres. From my
Pacific NW location, the summer months are typically best for Aussie and New
Zealand MW reception and the South Pacific stations. Even from home,
midsummer can provide Tahiti on 738 and the stronger Aussies like 2BL Sydney
on 702.

I would guess that other parts of the USA experience regular summer patterns
on mediumwave to other North American or Carribean regions. For instance,
this time of year the Midwest USA has a sunrise grayline condition with
Yukon and northern Alaska... a good time to catch those northerly, distant
stations.
