I'm this close to running, screaming from my home after watching NBC's
coverage of the Olympics.

Do any international broadcasters cover any of the Olympics events... or
does the NBC contract prevent that, too?

I've heard coverage on the BBC, Radio Australia, and
AFRTS 12133.5. The latter broadcast yesterday's
USA men's basketball loss to Lithuania

It may be that contracts to national markets mean that international
coverage on SW is more or less absent. I have access to the NBC, CBC - TSN
(Canada), and RC - RDI (Canadian French). Easily the best TV is RDI (the
Canadian French all sports network). CBC English is also very good on
radio, but sucks on TV. If you're in the central US, try CBC radio on MW
CBK 540 Watrous Sk, CBR 1010 Calgary Ab, CBW 990 Winnipeg Mb.
