The medium-wave station is probably Radio Reloj from Cuba. It's an
all-news station that runs time ticks under the programming and sends
"RR" in Morse Code at the top of the minute. They broadcast on a number
of medium-wave frequencies.

I actually heard the voice ID this morning clearly enough to confirm that
it is YVTO, thanks!

BTW, the reason the tones are out
of sync with each other is the propagation path (the time it takes for
the signal to reach your reciever.


The pulses from YVTO are about 0.45 seconds behind WWV. That means
that Caracas is 0.45*186,000 = 83700 miles from me ? :-)

It seems more likely to be UT1 vs UTC to me.
