Wow, that's *really* great news to post on a worldwide newsgroup! There's a pizza shop here in town that has *really* great pies, too. Dan Thanks Ron for the info. You may not know Dan, Kroger is a BIG food chain with locations all over the country. I found the tip to be helpful and worth checking out because we have Krogers all over TEXAS. George Thurman |

You may not know Dan, Kroger is a BIG food chain with locations all over the country. IIRC, Kroger is the largest grocery chain in the United States (and they tend to have decent produce). There is (or was) a Kroger employee on this newsgroup. I found the tip to be helpful and worth checking out because we have Krogers all over TEXAS. All over Mississippi, too. The one in Vicksburg is about three miles from me. George Thurman Gray |
You can run a shortwave radio on batteries (some of them you can, anyway).
I haven't tried to run a radio on a pie, but..... Mark. "Dan" wrote in message ... They are shoddy cheap batteries which are made in China that start to leak after 2-3 Weeks of intermittent use. Don't put them in your radio or other portable unless you want to clean it out with baking soda after they explode and leak "battery juice" all over the insides of the unit. I lost an inexpensive but handy Radio Shack scanner to these cheap crappy China AA batteries that Kroger and other similar stores like them sells. Stick with the name brands like Eveready, Radio Shack, Ray-O-Vac, Panasonic and others. If the battery says "MADE IN CHINA" on it, don't buy it or you'll be sorry you did later on ! |

Hmm, I've had way more problems with Ray-O-Vac batteries, both in the old days, and recently, than all the other battery brands put together. That's strange. I have a drawer full of Ray-O-Vac batteries; I've been using them for years now. The only good rechargeables I have are AA Ray-O-Vac NiMH. Ray-O-Vac are my second choice after Eveready, but they're much less expensive than Eveready. -- "The Democrats are all over this. Hmm, I've had way more problems with Ray-O-Vac batteries, both in the
old days, and recently, than all the other battery brands put together. Used those terrible Kroger batts for a couple of years, and had zero problems.. The only batteries that I've ever used that were noticeably worse than any other brand are Maxell. About half the life of any other brand. Walgreens batteries are a very good buy. |

Ray-O-Vac are my second choice after Eveready, but they're much less expensive than Eveready. Ray-O-Vac AA's seem to leak more than all the other ones do. I almost lost a very expensive handheld when a set I had just bought started leaking. If the battery indicator hadn't dropped like a rock, I wouldn't have checked them and seen that 3 of the 4 were oozing nasty looking stuff out of the - end. I haven't had that problem either. I've had the occasional Energizer leak; I've had a lot of Kirkland (Costco) batteries leak, but only those that were lightly used and lasted a long time in the equipment; but I've been using a whole lot of Ray-O-Vacs over the past few years (I buy the AA batteries 30 at a time) and no leaks. Opening my battery drawer, I'm slightly low; I've got 2 D, 14 C, 4 9V, 39 AA and 20 AAA left. Incidentally, I cut my AA use *greatly* by using NiMH in the DX-398. -- "John Kerry unveiled his newest campaign slogan: 'A mind is a terrible thing to make up.'" -- Jay Leno |
To follow your logic, then no posts should be made to this newsgroup unless
the event described in the post can be experienced by everyone in the world. So no logs can be posted, because they could "only be heard in Ohio" or wherever. At least this Kroger battery posting was quasi-on topic, unlike the majority of posts in this newsgroup. I just wish I had a Kroger nearby. That's a good deal! Bob "Dan" wrote in message ... Posting about sales at your local grocery store is still stupid. Dan |
