Sound compression on rebroadcasts?
Last night I caught the CBC radio rebroadcast of Radio Poland
programming. A few of the people interviewed had really irritating voices. Then I noticed that most of the pauses that occur in normal speech had been taken out, combined with a poor sound quality. It sounded almost like a bad 'text to speech' computer program. Why? Saving bandwidth on the satellite? I'd sure hate to listen to music tampered with that way. mike |
