Here near Chicago, they're not strong but they're VERY consistently
receivable year-round.


Here in SW Michigan - exactly 90 miles East of Chicago - WBZ'z reception
varies by night from excellent to "distant", but I can always raise
them. When living in Detroit as a boy, WBZ was "local station" clear
*any* night after dark.

710 WOR

I can make out a carrier on most nights. Sometime it punches through. It's
adjacent to WGN, which is very strong here.


770 WBC

Reception similiar to WOR, but this one's right next to WBBM.


880 WCBS

Easy catch most nights, despite being next to WLS.


1010 WINS

I get a carrier sometime, but it's next to one of the other sport babblers.
I assume the carrier is from CFRB. CFRB came in quite well when the old
WCFL shut down every week early on Monday morning. I've nulled out AM 1000
with a loop antenna and also received CFRB.


1050 WEVD

Whatever's between WHO and KYW is unlistenable. I suppose it's them and
CHUM fighting it out.


1130 WBBR

Don't know.


1560 WQEW

Don't know.

I live in the Chicago area. For whatever reason, many of the New York
allocations are right next to the Chicago allocations. It's not always easy
to hear NY stations here, even though the night time distance isn't much by
AM broadcast band standards.

I used to listen to Larry all the time, when he still had one of the

It's great to hear he's still alive and kicking. Does he still do his
hypnosis schtick?

around 4:30 CST. I never have much of a problem
with them -- I can hear 770 until our local U of M
station signs on.

We have WUOM (University of Michigan) here out of Ann Arbor, which is an FM
outlet, with a few relays. (I catch the BBC overnight on their relay which is
WVGR in Grand Rapids).

They carry NPR, which I can listen to at times... sometimes not!

Great responses. Thanx a bunch !!!! Seems as if the big 50 kilowatt
stations from the east coast can be heard well enough until you go further
west of the great lakes. The same goes but in reverse with reception of mw
here. I can get many of the 50 kilowatt mw transmitters that are either non
directional or beamed in my direction at night so long as it is not further
west of Minnesota.
