Eton E100 now available in Canada
The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) has included an order form for the E100
in their current mailing. This is for HBC account holders only but it indicates that the radio is now being shipped and should be generally available soon. The radio is quite attractive in a silver finish and has all the usual digital controls including 200 progammable presets. It is priced at C$99.99. If you want to beat the Xmas rush account holders can order by phone: 1-800-268-7436 or Toronto (905)-840-4141. |
Is there some reason I should be excited?

If you are aroused enough to post a snarky response thatis reason enough. I am sorry that every posting does not meet your needs and interests, but that is life. Get used to it. |
Where is the E100 being made? In the US or China?

"Steve" wrote in message om... Where is the E100 being made? In the US or China? It's the same radio as the Chinese Tecsun PL-200. Which is much much cheaper on eBay. I have one, I love it. Caveat: The Eton version may or may not charge NiMH batteries in the radio. The Tecsun does so, with a step up transformer. It uses 220v, the Eton for North America will be built for the proper voltage here. And the Eton looks better with a revamped case. Let's not forget the Eton will come with a US warranty, whereas the Tecsun would require the hassle of shipping back to China if it needed replacement. My personal preference, due to the price difference and excellent service I've had from Liypn, would be a purchase of the Tecsun. I've bought 3 radios from him with no problems. The pretty case and proper North American voltage are not worth the extra cost... to me.... others will want the security of the warranty and be willing to spend the money. http://stores.ebay.com/V-COM-COLLECTIONS click the "radio" link on the left, then scroll for the PL-200. $62 shipped... 7-10 day delivery I got a red one. |

And the portable section of www.universal-radio.com (note the dash) shows all kinds of interesting things coming in the Autumn. I'd wait for the other models http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/portable.html some renamed at the Canadian Radio Shack now that they are owned by ??, and not the U.S. Radio Shack. The E10 from Eton looks more interesting but I want 4 or more 'wakeup alarm' like the Sony 2010 rather than two http://www.universal-radio.com/catal...able/0110.html Eton 100 at http://www.universal-radio.com/catal...able/0100.html is USD $100 there or CAD$128, so cheaper in Canada. -- -\_,-~-\___...__._._._._._._._._._._._.
