Rat Shack "Radio Shark"

This actually looks intriguing. It's good to see them selling
something besides cell phones:

(From today's Wall St. Journal)

"The $70 radioShark, so named because it looks like a shark's fin,
attaches to your PC or Mac via the USB port and enables your computer
to play live AM or FM radio using radioShark software. Like a TiVo,
radioShark allows you to pause, rewind or fast-forward live
programming.

But the best part is that you can record songs or talk radio from this
live feed. You can play your recordings back within the radioShark
software, or send those recordings straight to a play list on Apple's
iTunes music software. From there, you can even transfer the
recordings to an iPod."

You forgot to mention the monthly $9.95 sucker activation fee.
Why bother when you can listen for FREE on a conventional radio?

That sounds *really* nice!

Tivo has to be hooked to the phone to record anything?
No wonder I am still using a VCR...

I thought TVio was just a box with lots of memory? You have to pay
monthly for it too? My wife wants one for xmas(yes, its almost here).

Yes, you have to have a subscription. Got my wife one for her birthday. I
was rather surprised at this too. I was told that originally, no
subscription was required but they have them rigged now so no subscription,
no function. I haven't experimented with it to find out what, if any,
functionality it has on it's own.

For those that work odd hours and can't manage to program a VCR -- TIVO is
well worth the price and monthly fee.
The interface is very well done and easy to use.
Cable companies are now offering a similiar device (for a monthly fee)
