It can be bought at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE Hardware, ETC in 500 Foot Roles with your choice of Colors; usually Red, Black, White, or Green. Yeah, went and checked to see what I have here and it's #10 THWN-2. It does have a tendency to lose it's outer clear shield out in the sun... It sheds... I have a few pieces of the clear coating hanging down at this very moment. I found a very large spool of this stuff alongside the road a few years ago... I'm guessing it fell off a truck.
