first radio station
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows where the first radio station in the u.s was located? Maybe even where the first radio station was? Thanks for your time and help it's greatly appreciated. |

I believe the first commercial radio station in the U.S. was KDKA in
Pittsburg, Pennsyvania. For years there was a big debate as to whether WWJ in Detroit, Michigan or KDKA was the first to broadcast. http://www.wwj.com/stationinfo.asp KDKA claims to be the "first radio license ever" issued 10/27/20, but, the first official record of the station appeared 08/01/16 as 8XK. The first broadcast program was by Fessenden in 1907, from Brant Rock, Mass. on a frequency of 42KHz with a power of 1KW.
