![]() Scotland's most successful radio show makes its comeback for shortwave and web listeners worldwide on November 6th. Jack McLaughlin's Ceilidh began on floating station 242 Radio Scotland in 1966 as the antithesis of the BBC's rather prim style of presenting traditional Scottish music. The ship borne station came to an end, but the show continued on Scotland's first land based commercial stations Radio Clyde and Radio Forth. And it soon crossed over to television as ITV's phenomenally successful Thingummyjig, leading to hit versions on stage and records. See long and interesting article by Andy Sennitt at http://medianetwork.blogspot.com/ Aimed now at listeners to shortwave in the USA, Canada, and western Europe, McLaughlin's Ceilidh airs on *radio six international *on Saturday, November 6th at 8.05pm Eastern (Sunday 0105 GMT) on 5105 kHz and on the web at radiosix.com. Please note: from November 1st, Radio Six's 5105 transmissions will run between 0000 and 0200 UTC to allow for the return to Winter Time in most of our listening area. |

Has not ID'd in over 15 min of talk. Trying to sell gold, historically about as exciting an investment as tanzanite on the home shopping network, lol. Anyway, nothing from Scotland could overpower this guy in the US or Canada. Jack Virginia Beach VA |

That station is WBCQ, and it would appear that Radio Six International will be using that transmitter for its program. dxAce Michigan USA |

I see a reference to that at http://www.wbcq.com/index.php Earlier I had skipped over that link at looked at a reference to Glenn Hauser's Shortwave/DX Report at: http://www.dxing.com/dxr/dxld4126.htm where he mentions: Verified Jim Cedarstrom's Patriot Trading Group rebroadcast at 6PM on Friday on 5105 // 9330 // 17495. Don't know if this stuff sounds familiar to you or not. Jack |
