Starting Monday, Salem Communications is expected to debut a news/talk lineup featuring Bill Bennett from 5 to 8 a.m., Laura Ingraham from 8 to 11 a.m., Dennis Prager from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Michael Medved from 2 to 5 p.m., Michael Savage from 5 to 8 p.m., Hugh Hewitt from 8 to 11 p.m., Mike Gallagher from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Ernie Brown from 2 to 5 a.m. Brian Kovacs, production manager at Salem's Christian ministry WYLL-AM (1160), moves up to program manager of WIND. Salem swapped its contemporary Christian WZFS-FM (106.7) -- "The Fish" -- in a multicity deal with Univision Radio for WIND. The only change in the lineup could come if Salem succeeds in luring Don Wade and Roma from WLS-AM (890). But such a move is a long shot at best. Whether Don & Roma renew as morning hosts at WLS, their Disney/ABC outlet stands the most to lose in the ratings when WIND returns to news/talk. Conservative talk fans will now have a clear alternative to WLS. (via Robert Feder, Chicago Sun-Times) dxAce Michigan USA |
WHAT!? No Larry "The Legend" Johnson?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Q: Steve of Wauwatosa - Tim, I'm wondering if you think an upcoming format change in Chicago will have an effect on the Milwaukee market. Last week, the Chicago Sun Times reported that WIND 560 A.M. which is currently owned by Univision will swap frequencies with Salem's 106.7 FM. Apparently, Salem plans to use that frequency as an outlet for their national talk line up. This brings to mind two questions. First, with the disappearance of Spanish programming that was no doubt listened to by Milwaukee area Hispanics, do you think this will cause some sort of immediacy need for, say a Clear Channel station, to flip to Spanish? There ar rummors on the radio boards to this effect. Also, do you think it is wise to have 540 and 560, both as Salem properties to be so close on the dial? I wonder if there is worry from the Salem Milwaukee that the two frequencies next to each other may cause confusion from cassual listeners? What do you think? A: Tim Cuprisin - WIND will carry second and third tier conservative talk radio, like G. Gordon Liddy. I'm sure there's some audience for it, but it's not like that's something new and startling. I'm going to leave it at that because the questions from other folks are piling up here. "dxAce" wrote in message ...
