he claims if there is any damage you need to make an insurance claim.
look at what he charges. $29 for UPS and then wants an additional
$3.50 for insurance. world class rip off. insurance should be included
at that price which is already too high.

I'm not defending this guy, but the $29 charge is possibly not unreasonable.

I recently sent a Drake R8B to WA state and it cost $28. Reason being was that I double boxed it, packed very well. The box turned out to be oversized according to UPS.

I made the mistake of only charging $18 to ship, but I'll not make the same mistake again.

I would almost expect shipping charges on everything to increase as fuel prices go up.

I've found Fedex ground is less expensive than UPS for shipping radios. They seem to have the best tracking system too.

I discovered this a while back when I bought a 70 pound Applied Communications SR-2150 and the seller offered me a choice. I think Fedex was just over half the price of UPS on that one.

A 2u rack mount Watkins Johnson VHF radio that weighs about 20 pounds when packed up will cost about $20 to ship from CT to CA.

Shipping with Fedex got easier for me when they bought Kinko's.

Thanks for that info. I just checked the phonebook and I have a Kinko's here and I'll check them out.
