more unusual military traffic
I started monitoring 11.175 at 14:50z and heard a message of 217 characters,
(the longest message I've ever heard--previous longest was about 120). This message was heard on this frequency only. During the repeat message, Offutt came up with other message traffic. This message was heard on 5 frequencies. This is unusual. I had never heard two different EAMs go out on 11.175 at the same time. I have heard the same message slightly delayed (receiving 2 stations). After their first message, Offutt came up with a Sky King call. Back to the first: shortly after, a message of 48 characters was heard, after which the party signed off. He had ID'd himself as 'bee bread'. He then said, "Bee Bread standing by for traffic". No response. Both Bee Bread and Offutt have continued to rebroadcast those 2 messages over and over. I have heard messages repeated but not like this. After Bee Bread's signoff, he stood by for traffic. After a pause I heard him say, 5 Romeo Alpha, I have you Lima Charlie. Short pause, then signoff. Must be working duplex as nothng was heard from 5RA. 16:25z, Offutt broadcast a Sky King call. developing.... HankG |

I too am not accustomed to hearing 'standing by for traffic' but just consider it a bonus as it's something different from what I normally hear. Perhaps due to the duration of the message they are just ensuring that anyone who had traffic during the message knows to come forward with it.
