That may well be, and no doubt you regard the likes of Michael Moore and most of Hollywood as part of the same circus. It also doesn't change the fact that you initiated a thread on this matter, provided a number of instances that allegedly made her out to be factually challenged, but, when questioned, weren't inclined to go any further into your own interpretation of her remarks, other than a quibble about a "slippery slope." So it would appear that we can rest easy that Wilson and Truman were Democrats and nothing Coulter said was inconsistent with that. |

So it would appear that we can rest easy that Wilson and Truman were Democrats and nothing Coulter said was inconsistent with that. I agree with you wholeheartedly about Michael Moore and most of Hollywood. Look, you wanted to pin Vietnam on Kennedy. I pointed you to a fact that many have forgotten, which is that the containment strategy in Viet Nam began with Eisenhower, who used our military and the CIA to prop up a repressive and corrupt regime (Diem). You and I disagree that this is quibbling. I thought it spoke to your point of Kennedy's responsibility for Viet Nam. As for the rest of your argument, which is that because I have not argued with you point by point, this proves me wrong about Coulter and her lack of grasp with honesty of intention or truth. I've offered a point of view based on what I heard and some facts that happen to share the extensive weight of recorded history -- something which in my opinion, Ann Coulter has never burdened herself with. Anyway, without the transcript from the BBC, which I won't take time to pursue, I have no other recourse than to offer what I heard Coulter say, and you are in your full rights to make the challenge personal and say I made it up, I'm full of ****, etc. OK. All you and I can end up doing is quibbling, both ways. I've offered an observation, and I'm choosing to let it rest here. Best, Bradley B. |

I don't buy the Nixon/Kissinger claim of a "secret plan" to end the war, but it is a stretch to say that there was escalation under Nixon. http://members.aol.com/warlibrary/vwatl.htm This clearly was LBJ's war for purposes of the point raised by the OP. |

And today you can be 100% CERTAIN that most of the same people who voted for Bush are back to watching Jerry Springer, Bowling and Boozing or tightening lug nuts on tire hubs because they have some big bearded god in the sky who said he'd "take care of them" if they just continue to kiss his ass and send money to Trinity Broadcasting Network...... I fear GREATLY for my country. Please oh please, Usama bin Laden, come and take us now! ! (NOTE: that last comment above was a sarcastic comment for all you knee-jerk anencephalic dolts and "Red State" Bubbas' reading this now) pfhbltttt! I take offense to that. I am a degreed Electrical Engineer, have never watched Jerry Springer (except for the first time which is why I don't watch it), I've never sent a nickel to TBN nor do I watch it, and as a matter of fact, *everyone* knows God has a beard! :-) By the way, you should *always* capitalize the word God and words referring to Him. You seem to think that Republicans are all redneck's but I suppose that is no different than the fact that I think all Democrats are gay, vegetarians, college professors, pot smokers, anti-military Michael Moore lovers. You're just sour that you lost. Why not try and *support* your government instead of bad-mouthing it. It might help you appreciate what you have since you obviously don't understand that and probably have never had to do without. Oh, and the comment about bin Laden really was in poor taste (and my knees didn't even twitch). Cheers! |
