Ever since March I've been living in a situation that is not conducive

stations have disappeared, and Voice of America is about to do the same
thing, China and Thailand have been expanding services. Plus traditional
SW radio is hard to censor or jam (although many stations seem to be
censoring themselves). What does everybody think?

Shortwave is *years* away from going away, possibly decades. Granted, some
of the bigger stations have reduced or eliminated SW broadcasts but there's
always something to listen to.

I just spent $425 on a new radio, though, so I may be a bit biased

I say set it up; in fact, as long as you are building new - you might
as well plan where you want the antenna & make sure the house is built
with 'cable access' at that point.

I say set it up; in fact, as long as you are building new - you might
as well plan where you want the antenna & make sure the house is built
with 'cable access' at that point.

Now there is an Idea. While the House is being 'built' have the
Contractor install the Shack's:

1. Ground System two One Inch by Ten Foot Copper Pipes layed
flat-horizontally at the Bottom of the Foundation Footing joined
with a "T" Connector and a Vertical Copper Pipe up to the Shack
with a Wall Access Panel for the Ground Hook-Ups.

2. A 'separate' AC Power Circuit just for your Radio Equipment
with two Four Plug AC Outlet Boxes 5'-8' apart. Install Ferrite
Beads on each of the three wires feeding each of the Outlet Boxes.

3. A Two Inch Metal Conduit in the Walls to route your Antenna
Feed-in-Lines from the Roof or under the Eaves down to your Shack.
Have the Metal Conduit 'bonded' to the Shack's Ground System; and
have a Wall Access Panel for the Feed-in-Lines.

Hey this sounds like a House built around a Shack )
