The Village Idiot Contest: Mike Terry or Al Patrick?

This is a shortwave group. Do you ever listen to shortwave? I do. I
gravitate towards programming about the loss of civil rights, and the
coming judgement of God. The alternatives would be cable TV, AM/FM
radio, and the like. Shortwave has obscure foreign programming you could
hear. That's about as interesting to me as getting kicked in the teeth.
In regards to the various passions expressed by different individuals
here, remember, this is a shortwave group. Some of the opinions aren't
mainstream. Darren

I feel sorry for you. Perhaps you sould head for the hills and dig a bunker
of your own.

Clue: WWCR and WWRB are not the only stations on shortwave. I know
they're the LOUDEST (in signal strength and voice octaves) but they're
not the only. The only thing they're good for is a good laugh, and I get
that more often with Radio Habana Cuba and Voice of Korea than WWCR.

WWCR = World Wide Crap Radio :)

I actually have an apocalyptic point of view. No kidding. I've never
owned a gun, and I wouldn't run from anything. If you believe things are
going along pretty much as usual, it's because your day of reckoning yet
awaits you. Everybody eventually gets to say hello to the great
beyond...Darren

Every generation of Christians believe that they will be "the last".
When Jesus says in the Gospels "in this generation, the days are
numbered" he's talking about the people sitting in front of him
listening to him speak. The first Christians believed that the End was
coming in their lifetimes. But they died, and then the second generation
believed the same thing, and so on. The first Muslims believed that the
End was dawning and that they had to conquer the world before it
came-and they nearly did. But even though they conquered a good part of
the planet, the End never came. Christians believed that if they
liberated the Holy Land that the End would come. Centuries later,
America was the place to greet Jesus when he came again. 2000 years
after Jesus told a bunch of impoverished Galilee fishermen that their
days were numbered, Christians STILL believe that the Second Coming is
in their lifespan. You'd have thought they would have gotten a clue by
now. History is NOT going to end. God is NOT going to descend from the
sky and save humanity from itself, because God is a man made myth. Yes,
I'm an atheist. Yes, I think your holy book is a bunch of sheepherder
myths. Preach away-I've heard it all before.

The reality of death is inevitable. I'm not going to expend any energy
convincing anyone of anything. When the breath leaves one's body it's
essentially the end of the world. Darren

Nicholas Kristof had an OpEd column about the "Left Behind"
series in Wednesday's NY Times. Not his best, but OK. He
offers the authors a bet - if the Apocalypse begins
within the next 10 years, he'll donate $500 to the War Against
the Antichrist. If it doesn't, they donate $500 to a charity
that fights poverty and bigotry.

The "Left Behind" series is malarky. I've never subjected myself to it,
but I understand it's premise. To kill arabs in the name of building
utopia is another abomination. Alot of supposed christians are the
embodiment of genocidal aspiration. We live in wondrous times. I've
never seen such cleverly deceptive diatribes expounded. Darren

The Holy Land has to be cleansed of the Non Chosen before G_d will
arrive. If the Serbs do this sort of cleansing, it's a war crime. If
the Chosen do it, it's G_d's will. Go figure...

What about all those Muslim suicide bombers who believe that by flying
planes into buildings they will get 70 virgins in heaven? The "Chosen"
in Palestine are no worse than the "Chosen" in Arabia, or for that
matter in America. Jews, Muslims and Christians all think that they're
chosen by god, and that this gives them free rein to eliminate the
infidels of the other two religions. Unfortunately, the delusion goes
on, even the US President thinks he's chosen by his god to lead, and a
good part of the US thinks he is too.

Isn't religion great!
