Army recruiting office expanding its net (literally)

* The military is now recruiting Cockroaches, beetles, spiders and worms and
other insects. Backed by the Pentagon, Reuters reports scientists are
recruiting insects , shellfish, bacteria and even weeds to act as
'bio-sentinels. They were give early warning of biological and chemical
attacks, detect explosives or monitor the spread of contamination.

Boy, they should do well on this newsgroup!!!

I have forgotten where I had seen this but the Pentagon has been very
interested
in ongoing research of the method of insect flight. A recent university has
been successful
in building the first robot that flies like a fly. It was thought to be
very promising for the war
on terror to have a Spy Fly into the den of the terrorists branding a
miniature camera sending
back video's to Pentagon voyeurs :-)
