NO days to Stair Trial!
A quick call to the Press and Standard this AM says the Stair trial IS
going forward. The lady with whom I talked said she is sure Libby is gong to "stay on top of it". I don't know if she meant it HAS STARTED or it is STILL SCHEDULED. It was about 10:15 when I called. She also felt it was Libby who kept The Net Team updated. They could have gotten it from the newspaper, however, as most of their articles seemed to be newspaper scans. In a previous post I quoted the Press and Standard telephone number from on OLD article before the area codes all across the nation began massive changes. The 803 has since changed to 843. 843-549-2586 is their current number. Oh, for those who want BOTH sides of the issue: http://www.overcomerministry.org/ They just may keep us informed a bit but we'll have to read between the lines as they'll be viewing the whole thing from a slightly different angle than The Net Team, the Remnant's Hope group, the courts and the Press and Standard. http://www.thenetteam.net/ http://remnantshope.com/ Al |

Oh, for those who want BOTH sides of the issue: Good post, Al. Inquiring SWL-ers wanna know. I didn't see any mention of the "situation" on the overcomer web page. Is it there and I missed it ? I figured the profit's people would wanna keep this one under wraps. Wonder if the attorneys from the Davies family are providing any pro bono assistance to the profit in his time of need? Just kidding - I think the answer to that one is .. "predictable". I still say somebody better call on Sister Theresa at 1-843-538-3892. I predict that she might be ready to tie one on by this weekend. |

Ask Darren! He can probably tell you. ;-) I've been intending to comment for some time and kept putting it off. Ever notice how clearly and distinctly Bro. Stair gives the web address? Actually, he speaks pretty clearly and distinctly most of the time. But there seems to be a sense of pride when he says, "DOT O R G" like it was assigned especially to "Ol' R.G." -- Stair. ;-) Seriously, I don't wish Stair any harm. However, He's old enough and smart enough that SURELY he knew what the risks were. I suspect it's time to turn over the reigns of the Overcomer Ministry to one of his associates. Had he done this - WILLINGLY - in the first place most of this could have probably - and would have probably - been avoided! He used great enthusiasm when telling about the decline of other ministries; i.e., Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker and a number of others that were predicted to fall whether he named them all or not. May GOD'S will be done! |
Yeah, don't ask me about the court case, I don't keep up on the stuff.
My buddy Al is on top of things, and keeps me up to date. I'm still amongst those who'd like to see R.G. given some slack. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |

Darren And you're still amongst those who don't quote the post to which you're responding, and you're still amongst those who won't explain why Stair should be given any slack if in fact he's guilty of the accusations. Cutting him slack before the establishment of guilt or innocence is one thing; why should he rate any afterwards if he's guilty? |
My buddy, R.G. Stair, was live on my shortwave this morning. He made
mention of his court case. He said, for all intents and purposes, it's over with. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |

I like Stair, that much is true. I wouldn't fit into the setting there,
at his farm. The first time I lit up a cigarette, or cranked up some Joe Satriani, they'd be beside themselves. Then, if some brother was hitting on my woman, I'd probably have to send him off to judgement. From a distance, I can appreciate the ministry of the "overcomer". I thought YOU'D say, "So when do they pass around the Jonestown kool aid!" ;-) To tell you the truth, I'm not sure how to take that. Well, I doubt he's pleading guilty - unless it's to a MUCH lesser charge. (That could be the case as the courts seem to like to make all cases real cut and dry -- and easy on themselves!) I also doubt he's going to willingly give up his control over the group. HE may be a bit delusional on the matter or his attorney has assured him that "it's in the bag" as far as a payoff is concerned. You don't think Darren was attempting to pull the group's leg do you? That's the first thing I thought of. I started to reply a good bit earlier and decided to wait and see who took his bait. It seems to be way to quick and easy. It takes DAYS - sometimes WEEKS - just to seat a jury in most high profile cases. Unless all the plaintiffs have been bought or frightened off this case has not gotten started good. Maybe God told him He's going to take him home so he won't have to meet Bubba! ;-) |
From the sound of things this morning, it appears as though he copped a
plea. He said he pleaded guilty to a single charge, and that the rest were dismissed. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |
I was surprised by Stair for three reasons: One, I kept running into him all
the time on the dial, always getting great reception, even though he sounds like he is off the deep in. Two, I didnt know he was on trial at all. Three, when he gave his station address I was shocked and embarrassed to find him from my home state of South Carolina. I have known a couple guys from Walterboro though, and they were just as mental a Stair. May God have mercy on the place.... |

Oh, I was just being a smart-ass with that guilty remark. I wouldn't really expect it either. I also doubt he's going to willingly give up his control over the group. Hell, no. It's good to be king. Or so I'm told. I'd sure like to know first hand, though. You don't think Darren was attempting to pull the group's leg do you? That's the first thing I thought of. I started to reply a good bit earlier and decided to wait and see who took his bait. Not at all. I took it just as he said it, and assumed that Stair was just displaying a bit of braggadocio. I don't see Darren as the baiting type. It seems to be way to quick and easy. It takes DAYS - sometimes WEEKS - just to seat a jury in most high profile cases. Unless all the plaintiffs have been bought or frightened off this case has not gotten started good. Do you know that it's going to be a jury trial? Maybe God told him He's going to take him home so he won't have to meet Bubba! ;-) Naw...guys like Stair are always thinking they'll get protection in the face of their enemas...uh, enemies. I don't believe that their mind-set includes being spirited off to safety out of reach of their foes, even if it -is- to the right hand of God which is where I'll bet Stair thinks he'll end up. |

I heard somewhere, probably SW, that the feds pay the court system so much for EVERY case they CLOSE. For this reason, in addition to monetary reasons, they love to plea bargain. A person can be charged with three murders and if there's the slightest doubt in their minds they'll let him plea it down to one involuntary manslaughter! There NO JUSTICE in that kind of bargaining! (Check out Isaiah chapter 1. It tells of some rottenness but in verse 26 the judges are to be restored as at the first, thus indicating a period when the judges were NOT judges. Of course that is very well demonstrated a few verses prior.) Besides that, someone probably got to the young women and "explained" to them how they were going to look like whores AND complete idiots when they got through cross examining them in front of the "whole world"! Either that or Bro. Stair decided to show his generosity by giving them some money. Others probably told them how they were not to go to court against a brother, before infidels, and/or how they were really going to hurt God's work by bringing this man down to shame and possibly to his grave. I listened to him a short time off and on today to see if I could confirm what you said. Much of what I heard was REALLY OLD tapes he made back in the '80's probably. I look forward to seeing what the "official" version of the case is. Also, seeing what The Net Team and Remnant's Hope have to post on it - if they do. This will have turned out so differently from what they apparently had wanted that they may just ignore it or provide a lot of reasons why it never should have been decided this way. Personally, as the old saying goes, "I don't have a dog in this fight!" |

Shortly after 10:00 EST / 15:00 UTC I flipped over to 7.465 to see if
Stair was discussing anything about his trial. He was already discussing it and about all I caught was he was free AND THE RECORD WOULD BE PURGED! |

The young "brothers" at CCI. All those wigs. All that Vaseline. And no profit. Plus they gotta give back all the raffle money. Bummer. |

Let's all hope a reinvigorated Last Day Prophet of God has an outstanding year in 2005. I'm looking forward to the end of the world every month for a whole year!! Hear hear - good call Frank. I second that. We want false predictions galore. I wanna hear about the pope of rome putting a hit on the profit. I wanna know when Reagan's leaving office. I wanna know when Chicago is gonna be nuked by the muslims. I wanna hear Sister Teresa sing "The King is Coming" every 15 minutes, 24-7. But even if the profit goes to CCI, there's enough re-runs to keep the message alive for a hundred years. Hey - it would be a "win-win" situation. |

Yeah, that did occur to me, after I hit "post". So, to reclarify my
point, even if Stair is a delf-diluted pseudo prophet, at least he reads articles from other conspiracy types. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |

Or a win-win-win situation. We might have been on the dawn of a new age of incarceration theology. Imagine Brother Stair accompanied by two large companions, all wearing natty business suits and bow ties. His companions are now known as Tyrone X and Leroy X -- named after Planet X. Tyrone and Leroy are part of "The Fruit of the Prophet". I'd be careful with any fruit wisecracks, however. TX and LX look angry enough as it is. Frank Dresser |

But then again, maybe I'm wrong about the "you are what you eat" thing. It's a GIGO sort of deal. Crap goes in one orifice, crap comes out another. I'm not sure what happens if the crap that goes in comes out of the same hole. But I sure hope you brush teeth. ;) |
Self-diluted? Maybe it's self-deluded. Can't be sure. In any event, in
the case that Stair is a blathering espouser of apocalyptic enunciations, he'll find an audience regardless. Darren http://community-2.webtv.net/DEMEM/L...mes/page2.html |
