Nope, the built in MLB pretty much presents a constant reactance of roughly 50 ohms thru out. If you have a noisy antenna I dont care what you have for a reciever your not going to hear as much than with a quiet antenna,, it boils down to the S/N ratio. With my 70' horizontal random wire with a MLB attached I used to have a constant noise level of S -3 or greater. With my vertical RF systems antenna the noise level is usually nill or very low, which makes it much more easy to pick up weak signals,,, no comparison. And no the lower noise antenna most certainly does not mean a reduced signal level, where do you get your theory from?? My Rf systems antenna is equal to or in many cases gives a higher S meter reading than the 70'er with a grounded MLB. Ive quit using the wire altogether for all the reasons mentioned. Is this the RF Systems MTA antenna, as sold through Universal? I've always thought it looked interesting. You sound pretty happy with it. Is its performance good throughout its frequency range? Is its performance good throughout its frequency range? Steve -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The answer is yes and yes. Actually it exceeded my expectations. I took down my 70' wire after a year of having both up, because the MTA was so much more quiet, and IMO recieved better than the wire. S meter readings were almost always better on the MTA. I bought it in the 1st place because noise was killing me, always S 3 or better just in plain hash/white noise. With the MTA almost no noise at all with few exceptions. I rarely go above 15 meters with it, but when I have it seems to work well. It is pricey Jeff --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
