Sony SW100 / SW100S?

I have seen both mentioned but cant track the difference.
Are there two radios?
Is it just people miss quoting the number and omitting the "S".?

"S" means "System" as packaged with antenna, earbuds, etc.

As I recall, it was only sold [officially] in the USA as the 'S' version.

Outside the US, you could buy just the radio.

That's right Wigg, the US version is the "S"-ystem version packaged with an
active antenna. In Europe, and elsewhere I believe, it is sold without the
active antenna at a slightly reduced cost. The radios are otherwise
identical.

Are you considering a SW100 to replace your defunct 7600D? A very nice
portable which I seriously covet.

There are two versions of the SW-100:

SW-100E - sold outside North America.

SW-100S - sold in North America and includes an active antenna.

I have the SW-100S and it's great.

Yep
Not sure if the local ham shop will look at the 7600D for me.
Hardware OK I think its the tranny on the power switching that's defunct.
I have therefore resurrected my old 2001D and realise what a wonderful box
of tricks it is.
I will sell the Radio Shack 394 that I got from Ebay for fun now I have
repaired the innards of the 2001D.

It took a trip down stairs .. not a problem apart from the internal
batteries are very heavy and they broke their plastic mount and cracked a
board. Now glued and soldered wires to bridge ... what box to come back to
life after that little sojourn!
