I believe 5070 is a WWCR frequency. Nominally they're a "Christian"
station but in reality they sell airtime to anybody with the money to
pay for it. That's usually the far right wing loony fringe or a bible
thumper. One right wing conspiracy theory that I used to hear in the
early 90s was that the USSR's loss of the Cold War was just a feint to
lull us into a false sense of security so they could more easily conquer
us. Fifteen years after the Cold War ended, one hardly hears this
anymore, but I suppose there are a few old cold warriors who still
believe it.

I read the daily reports all through the early and mid 90's, and never
saw such a claim. No wonder why one hardly ever hears it anymore.
Besides, we spent the peace dividend prosecuting and defending
Clinton. Ha!

I listened to a similar fringe radio station locally. Called itself
"Air America" with a guy named Shultz (charlie brown?). Said that
racism "was at it's worst level ever." Callers were wringing their
hands wondering what they could do. I guess I missed the part where
they reported lots of beatings, hangings, and church burnings.
