$15 (regularly $20) SW radio @ Walgreens

I notice a $19.99 shortwave radio on sale in the NYC fliers from the
Walgreens pharmacy chain for $14.99 and they say it is available at
Walgreens.com.

I haven't the foggiest idea if this is a good "beach radio" for the
money. Obviously a DX machine it ain't.

Looks like a Kaito 1010 or 1012 series.
So expensive! Should be about USD $9.99
They work for strong stations but adding
two metres of wire to the whip would help
the signal immensely.
There are better radios of the size, but if
it fell into your hand, keep it. I'd look at the
Degen, or the latest hit from Tecsun.

I've got one, though not too thrilled with it. I don't have it in front
of me, but if I recall correctly, it also has FM band. Reception is
fine for regular AM/FM operation but the shortwave reception is poor.
In addition my major beef with it is the switch on top that lets you
select the band is hard to use (can't tell what band you are on, etc).

Not recommended, and as the other posters are saying it is still too
expensive for the features and value of the radio.

I've never met a seagull I didn't like. You just have to get to know them.
