For those of you who are paranoid about the upcoming Bush Dictatorship
 

We know you're out there-shortwave listeners who are certain that the
Great Bush Dictatorship is coming any day now. In the New America, the
buying, selling, ownership, use, and abuse of shortwave radio gear will
be outlawed, the penalty will be death to be delivered on the spot. (And
while we're at it, we'll kill your family and your neighbors too.) Those
of you who wish to continue your "hobby" may find the following tips
helpful.

1) DO NOT use the memories on your radios. Our agents know enough to
look in the memories of your radios to find out what subversive
counterrevolutionary propaganda you've been tuned to. Most SW listeners
only listen to a handful of stations. Memorize those frequencies.

2) ALWAYS set your SW radio back to one of the time stations on 5, 10,
or 15 MHz after you've finished listening to subversive
counterrevolutionary propaganda. Try all three until you find one that's
coming in reasonably clearly. You wouldn't want to try and convince an
agent that you were listening to 5 MHz in the middle of the day, or 15
MHz late at night.

3) TURN down the volume, ahem, *TURN DOWN THE VOLUME*! This will make it
less likely that your neighbors in the Freedom Corps will hear that you
are NOT listening to your local FM station.

4) HIDE (or get rid of) your UTC clocks. We're not stupid, we know that
it's not 4am when it's really 8pm. And since you guys are the only ones
who use military time format, your clocks stick out like sore thumbs,
especially at the mandatory Freedom Corps meetings held in members'
homes. "Hey, is eighteen o'clock POSSIBLE, Billy?"

These tips should help you stay alive and working at your dead end
burger flipper job in the New America. Further directives are coming on
topics such as how to display your government issue picture of
God-President For Life Bush (on an altar next to an empty bottle of
vodka-and make sure it's NEVER EVER torn!).

no. The government will simply assign more domestic U.S. stations to the
shortwave radio bands so that all we will hear on shortwave are domestic U.S.
radio stations.

They've already expanded the domestic AM broadcast band to 1710 MHZ, formerly
part of the shortwave band.

What receivers do you have?

Send them to me and I'll be glad to "hide" them for you until Hilary
lets you have them back....
