Mystery Shortwave Station at 18:00 UTC 14575 kHz

Does anyone know what this is? It sounded like it was playing Arabic
music. The Passport Blue Pages do not even show this frequency so I am
asking this newsgroup for help.

My first question to ask in cases like this is: What radio are you using?

OK, are you hearing any other shortwave broadcast stations in the 14000 range?
Say in the vicinity of 14575?

Look in the manual and check to see what the IF frequencies of the set are if
you would please.

My first guess is that the set has a 455 kHz IF frequency and 2 times that would
be 910 kHz. Adding the 910 kHz to 14575 = 15485 and the Voice of Greece relayed
via Delano, California is there with a good signal.

If you can, switch between the two frequencies, 14575 and 15485 and see if you
are hearing the same thing.

I suspect you are receiving an image in the S350.

Read my other post, and look at this:

It describes the image problem I detailed.

Thanks dxAce.

You solved the mystery. I heard the exact same thing on 15485 kHz.

The Voice of Greece. Greek music not Arabic, a nice listening station
all around ; )
