Default Propagation at the moment

Looks like things are going down hill for a Sunday evening. Earlier New
Zealand and Australia faded out and Radio Netherlands out of Antilles is
sounding weak and noisy.

Currently G1 level geomagnetic and S2 Solar radiation storms in progress.

Telamon, Things are starting to slide here in the Midwest USA as well. Right
now the 31 meter band seems like the best bet in this neck of the woods. I am
presently tuned to The Voice of Greece, at 0709utc on 9420khz. I've got a solid
5dB/S-9, on the JRC NRD-535D, hooked up to the Par Electronics EF-SWL. If this
upcoming storm lives up to it's prediction, I may be forced to actually do some
dusting and vacuuming around the shack for the next couple of days. Good DXing
to you, Gary, Illinois, USA

* Diffraction 1 Radio Propagation by Diffraction Over an
Obstruction When there are two radio antennas located on
or near the Earth's surface propagation can ordinarily occur
between them by groundwave. If an obstruction, a hill,
a mountain, a building intervenes, propagation can still
occur via slant paths over the top edge of the obstruction.
This depends on diffraction over the edge. So, in addition to
the basic or spreading loss along the sum of the slant paths,
D1+D2, there is an additional loss due to diffraction . . .

1/17/05 2:00 UTC has G2, S3 conditions New Zealand and Australia noisy
signals. For the last hour they both have been very good.
