"THIS IS TO CONFIRM THAT YOU DID RECEIVE WKKP'S SIGNAL. WE ARE THRILLED TO
KNOW THAT IT IS POSSIBLE. WKKP...1410-AM"

Received on their nightime power of 58 watts
(reception was at 7.40 p.m. local time Georgia)
Station is 13,193 kilometers, 8,194 miles from this QTH
The format was Nostalgia/contemporary oldies

Reception on RX Drake R8B and antenna RF Systems DX-1 Pro.

That's pretty damn good. 58 watts isn't a whole lot of power.


It's amazing what you can hear when the conditions are just right. I
once heard the 5th harmonic of a Chinese domestic shortwave station on
25250. (5050 x 5). It was grey line reception in the morning a few
summers ago. This was when the solar flux was much higher than now. I
figure the power of that harmonic was less than 100-watts. The
propagation path was about 10K-miles.
