@individual.net:

I am mostly a broadcast SWLer, so I was thrown for a loop with this one.
Very glitzy presentation, just like your local AM station (or FM) might
be. I wasn't prepared for the USB aspect of the signal. I just happened
to come across the frequency again the next day, and the signal was still
good. I listened long enough to hear the "Air Force" mentioned on it, and
from the pro-American stance on various topics, I figured that it had its
origins here. A short search on the internet revealed more.

The software that I have been experimenting with permits rapid searching
of a particular range of frequencies, ergo the contacts outside the range
of my usual practices.

I believe that I logged Israel yesterday, an English language show. I was
quite surprised. There is some irony in my logging though, the following:

"KOL ISRAEL OVERSEAS SERVICE SCHEDULE

From October 31, 2004 to March 26, 2005

Shortwave broadcasting is due to cease on March 31, 2005"

http://www.israelradio.org/sw.htm

Personally, I am not going to be lugging my laptop every where I go so
that I can listen to streamed audio. It's unfortunate that the shortwave
stations are falling like trees during a lumberjack competition.

I have had my fill with the lunatic Christian shows. Mind you (you'll
think me insane), I am not speaking of Pastor Peters, but the plethora of
bitter preachers that claim to be professing "the only" true word (Pastor
Peters is comparatively sedate, though he can be crass). Even if you
don't follow their preaching closely, they all offer contradicting
beliefs, it maddening. It's like Gulliver's Travels, the one group of
islanders that hates the other, since one side opens their hard boiled
egg on the small end, the other group, the large end. It's still a
freakin egg!

I can remember the all time classic just after 911, where one preacher
claimed that any person that jumped out of the burning Trade Center
buildings, that upon splatting on the ground, their souls continued on
into hell (his words, not mine). I guess he viewed jumping from a burning
building with no hope of survival was suicide, either that or he believed
that since they likely didn't listen to his show, they must assuredly be
destined for hell.

Anyway, I really enjoy shortwave, and am sorry to see broadcasters go
every month. I have taken up listening to utilities, number stations,
and waiting for Pirates to pop up. I shudder to think what may occupy the
vacated frequencies. (see last 2 paragraphs).

"The war between the two empires has gone on for six and thirty moons
because of an edict starting by the king's grandfather on how to break an
egg. According to Lilliputian law, people must break an egg by its small
end. However, those who believe or desire to break an egg at its big end
(the Big-Endians), continue to try, finding death or exile. Although
Reldresal believes that it should be the prerogative of each individual
Lilliputian on how to break an egg, he confesses that some 11,000
Lilliputians have lost their lives trying to change the law."

I logged AFN on 7811 a couple days ago at 0626Z.
