Yeah, stupid is right. What on earth was that buyer thinking?

he is in Japan, that could explain the collector desire. I am sure it is not
for performance at that price.

About 25 years ago I read in a magazine that if someone buys a new
Harley Davidson Motorcycle in America and takes it to Japan, the owner of
the Harley can sell it in Japan for double the money or more.

I once read that the Sat 900 would be available in 1994.

Undoubtedly the buyer has been looking for a 150e for a while.

When a collector or someone who is looking for a specific item puts a
value on something, they tend to include the value of time they've spent
or are likely to spend looking for another one that's as nice as the one
at hand.

It's possible this sale will bring more out of the woodwork, but I spent
a couple years looking for an HF-150e before giving up and going for the
larger 7030+ for my camping and vacation radio.

I wouldn't have gone as high as this one closed, but I'd have paid a
premium to get one.

I hope it comes out soon so I can sell you one for a few grand.

I looked for one as well, but largely because I overestimated the
amount of front end overload I'd encounter on the standard 150. I live
in NYC and hardly ever experience overload problems on my 150. I can't
see spending more for a heartier front end.

Same here. I get the same overloading on *one particular frequency as I do
on my other radios so that's the extent of my OL problems. Aside from that
station, all is well. Now I would have liked the backlit display on the
150E, but so far I enjoy the rig without it.

I have also read some of these 150e's have quality control problems. I've
read about noises appearing on the E that did not reproduce on the original.
I also read they are not as sensitive and the knob doesn't feel or turn like
the old one either. In fact, one guy wrote the knob actually moved down on
it own it was so lose. I'm glad I have a good condidtion original that was
built by Lowe for sure.

The one reason I haven't bought a remote control for my 150 yet is that I
love the way the dial feels and rotates. It's a pleasure to use it to lock
in a station. I do have the keypad for it to jump around but I find the
"Fast" button on the 150 is just splendid. You can go where you want in a
flash. In all the reviews for the 150 {whch are not many} I have read, not
one mentioned this fast feature but gave the impression you would have to
turn from one end of the radio to the last all day long.

Funny that if Steve didn't write Frank about the radio not having the name
Europa across it, he wouldn't have taken it off Ebay and relisted it without
a Buy It Now option for $595. Next look for frank to list the keypad
separately for it.

The same comment could be made about guys that pay $800.00 for a Sony
6800W, $3,000 for a Sony 320, $5,000 for a Panasonic FR-9000 or $100.00
for a Radio Shack DX160 or $30,000 for a wooden cased floor radio from
the 1930's. Most SWL's looking for a radio to use would pay far less
for a used Kenwood R5000, Icom R71 or Japan Radio and get a lot more
performance for their money.

The guy may be a collector and as we all know collectors are governed
by a whole different set of rules than users. And if the guy is from
Japan, they have a propensity to bid the sky to complete a collection.
