Grundig S350 RX: First results

Hello Friends
The Grundig S350 I ordered showed up yesterday afternoon. A couple of
folks on here asked me to post how I liked it. Well, at first blush
this is what I found. Got off work late last night, got home, got the
RX out of the box and fired it up. WKYX 570 Kc
1KW (if my old NRC logbook is right) Paducah KY coming in with a good
signal. Audio was great. Also must confess I liked the digital
readout, comes in very handy. only real "fly in the ointment" I could
find was the action of the "wide-narrow" filter switch felt "chessy"
and not too sturdy. I'll be doing more DX'ing with this RX and think
it might just prove a bit better for me than the GE Superradio III.
Seems a tad more selective. One other thing. One guy mentioned in one
of these posts how good the "long haul AM DX Portable" RX from Radio
Shack years ago was. Exactly. I had one in 1976 and loved it. Dunno
where it wound up but wish I had it now. Another past RX I wish I
still had was that Panasonic RF2200B with that great rotating ferrite
rod ant. That's another one that vanished into the mists. Take care

I remember that Radio Shack 30 dollar TRF radio. When I played with the S350
a couple of weeks ago, it seemed to have the feel of that TRF unit. Too bad
my brother got mad at me and smashed it!

Yeah I like this radio also. I actually have 2 - the Grundig and a
black Tecsun model. Great sound, sensitive, batteries last forever.
